At Ealing Studios one day while the lighting was being changed, we were sitting around in a semi-circle quietly doing crosswords and reading the paper, when suddenly and without warning, Judi jumped up out of her seat and said, “What international city am I?” and started doing a kind of mime of washing herself. Somebody said, “Washington!” Got it! So then we all had to get up and do a mime of a city in the world. Jodie Whittaker sat crossed-legged, waved her arms about and went “Shoo, shoo!” and that was Budapest.

Another day, while we were waiting upstairs in the dressing rooms, Jodie and Michelle Dockery taught me the whole dance from Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” video. I won’t forget them performing that in their corsets and long skirts! That was very entertaining. I had to dance it in my britches and ridding boots.
